This class focuses on building confidence and improving the critical nursing skills one learns in the final semester of school. Due to the COVID-related curtailment of clinical rotations, Capricorn created this course specifically for recently graduated nurses and final semester nursing students.
The majority of the course will be small-group, low-stress simulations of critically ill patients and rapid response situations with a strong focus on skill practice. Some group discussion will be on survival tips for the new grad nurse, including time-management, communication with providers, and how to best utilize your orientation time as you transition into nursing practice.
Here’s what past participants have said:
> “I felt that it was a great experience. I learned a lot of hands on skills and it was generally just nice to be doing clinical type practice.”
> “I think this class is perfect for anyone wanting to bridge the gap of time between ending school and starting their job. I appreciated all of the resources and supporting documents.”
> “Sherry is an awesome educator. It really helped boost my confidence, especially with the skills we missed out on because of COVID.”
> “Jimmy is a really great educator, and he was really good at explaining the skills and sim scenarios.”
This class does not address documentation principles; there are separate class offerings for that important topic.
