Community Involvement
Sherry and the other educators at Capricorn Healthcare Consultants are involved in national, state and community organizations based in nurse advocacy, professional growth, and psychological support.
Nurses Club of Northern Nevada
Nurses Club of Northern Nevada offers support, socializing, networking, and continuing education for nurses, first responders, other healthcare workers, and nursing students in Northern Nevada and Tahoe. We organize free monthly gatherings that rotate between Reno, Carson City, North Lake Tahoe, and South Lake Tahoe. Nurses’ Club is “non-denominational”, meaning it does not matter where you work, we’re all nurses.
Topics typically address self-care, resiliency, and over-all well-being. Past presentations have been on perfectionism, healthy workplace, self-compassion, sleep, and healthcare worker suicide and mental readiness. New discussion topics and presenters are added regularly. We also aim to address the initiatives of the American Nurses Association’s Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation and Nevada Nurses Association’s Healthy Nurse Healthy Nevada.
We specifically choose locations that do NOT feel like work or school. Gathering sites have included Food Truck Friday, local beer gardens, and outdoor settings like the beach, weather permitting. You can feel free to show up in flip flops, eat, drink, laugh, or cry at our gatherings. We offer 1.o to 1.5 Nursing CEUs for most sessions.
